What changed
  • 2026-10-13: Added At a glance boxes, score breakdowns, Who it is for and Who should skip lists, this change log, a retention chart, an evidence legend, dated vendor page captures and grouped comparison tables. This layout update itself changed no scores or facts.
  • 2026-10-13: Added JotPsych (75), Mentalyc (75), Upheal (71), Twofold Health (58) and AutoNotes (44), each with a publicly documented BAA, scored from public vendor pages checked 2026-10-13. Methodology now states a specialty-fit tie-break and partial EHR credit (up to 8/20) for all-in-one platforms with their own EHR. Existing vendor scores unchanged; Dragon Copilot, Suki and Abridge move down in rank.

EHR integration depth

Upheal is itself the EHR, so notes are written directly into the chart inside Upheal. It does not document pushing notes into an outside EHR. Under our all-in-one platform rule it receives partial EHR credit (8 of 20).

Listed integrations: Notes live in Upheal's own EHR; data migration from SimplePractice, TherapyNotes and Sessions Health; Google Calendar two-way sync; Zoom integration

Specialty suitability

Templates: Free: SOAP, DAP and Intake. Paid: GIRP, BIRP, EMDR, PIRP, SIRP, PIE, Upheal notes, Psychiatry, Headway-compliant SOAP and Medical notes; 170+ sections and custom AI prompts

Upheal is therapist-first, with a Psychiatry note type and couples and family support. Upheal's documentation says AI drafts progress notes, and that transcripts, recordings and private process notes should be kept separate from progress notes. No e-prescribing or 42 CFR Part 2 specific controls are publicly documented: Ask vendor.

Workflow and UX

Sessions can be captured in person in the browser or mobile app, through Upheal telehealth, the Chrome extension, the Mac app or Zoom, or from uploads and dictation. Notes, treatment plans and a compliance checker sit in the same EHR, and client-friendly post-session summaries can be shared.
